All I ever needed to know...

"All I ever needed to know, I learned from Sesame Street."

Like millions of children throughout the world, I watched Sesame from a very young age. I learned how to read using Sesame Street books, learned how to share my Sesame Street products, and even remember seeing Sesame Street Live, which sparked my love of watching live theater performances!

Little did I know that 15 years later, Sesame Street would yet again impact my life...

It was the summer after my freshman year, and I was looking for a fun internship. I was pre-med at the time, but after a grueling semester of Microbiology, I was unsure that I wanted to stay pre-med. I knew that I loved TV, so I decided to apply to a bunch of internships in NY. At this point in my life, I did not have any contacts in the television industry, and applied the "traditional way" (e.g. sending cover letters and resumes to various TV stations and programs). My number one choice at the time was NBC.

During my first week of my sophomore year, I sat in on a film class in which the professor offered these words of wisdom: "Take any job that's offered to you, because as soon as you do, that's when all the calls will come. Nobody seems to call when you're unemployed."

Sure enough, a few days later, I got a call that I had gotten the Sesame Street internship. I took this professor's advice to heart and accepted. That very same day, I got the call from NBC, but it was too late...(thankfully) my fate had already been sealed.

Thus began my entre into children's TV. Tune in next time when I will share my first look behind the scenes at the Sesame Street set!

Why you may ask is this "the place to B?"

Why you may ask, is this "the place to B?"

Well, if you use the logic that B is for blog, than the place to "B" = the place to...Blog! (my mom's a math teacher...'nuff said)

I am very excited to share my foray into blogging with the world. Please share your thoughts as well.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mimi and I'm 23 years old. I have a niece, 2 nephews and a cat. I just graduated from college and am very passionate about children's television. I have not found a full time job in it yet, but I've previously interned at Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow and Noggin. I have created another blog that will further chronicle my trials and tribulations as I try and enter the children's television industry. Feel free to check it out at: http//:TV4kids.blogspot.com

Now...where to begin...

This past year has been quite an adventure! I have literally met hundreds of people in the children's television industry and many celebrities (Someday I hope to have a "roledex" that rivals Fred Seibert). I'll dish out those details later, but first, i'll start at the very beginning...
